Dhoni liderou de frente quando o CSK finalmente terminou sua sequência de cinco partidas com uma vitória muito necessária sobre o LSG em Lucknow.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has urged IPL organisers to prepare better wickets that encourage shot-making, as he believes no team wants to play “timid” cricket. Dhoni specifically pointed out the challenges at CSK’s home ground, Chepauk, which has been difficult for the five-time champions this season.
CSK’s victory over Lucknow Super Giants
CSK recently ended their five-match losing streak with a victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), with Dhoni playing a crucial role by scoring 26 runs off 11 balls. Reflecting on the win, Dhoni said, “One of the reasons could be that the Chennai wicket is slightly on the slower side. When we played away from home, the batting unit did slightly better. Maybe we need to play on wickets that are slightly better so that it’ll give the batters confidence to play their shots. You don’t want to play timid cricket.” He asked for the need for improved batting performance despite the bowling unit doing well.
The importance of confidence
Dhoni, named Player of the match, talks about the win’s importance. “It’s good to win a game. When you play a tournament like this, you want to win games. Unfortunately the matches didn’t go our way for whatever reasons. There can be lots of reasons. It’s good to have a win on our side. Gives confidence to the whole team and helps us improve in areas we want to improve.” he said.
Rishabh Pant on LSG’s performance
LSG captain Rishabh Pant expressed optimism about regaining his rhythm after scoring 63 off 49 balls. “I am feeling better with each and every game, but sometimes it doesn’t come off. Slowly getting into my rhythm, taking every match at a time,” he said. Pant explained the decision not to use their best bowler, Ravi Bishnoi, for the final over, saying it didn’t go as planned, and he addressed concerns about bowling during the powerplay.
